Plan the Venue Before Selecting the Equipment
A practical starting point for defining the site, audience, attraction mix and project information needed before concept design begins.

For clients who are still evaluating a project direction and have not yet entered the detailed design stage. The guide helps organize the basic decisions and site information needed for an initial discussion.
Information to Consider Before Detailed Design
- Define the project type
- Understand the target audience
- Review floor area and ceiling height
- Identify the main activity zones
- Consider circulation and supporting areas
- Prepare the basic project information
Prepare the Project for a Useful First Discussion
Early planning should establish what the venue is intended to be, who it is for and what physical conditions are available. It does not require a finished layout or a final equipment list.
Define the Project Type
Clarify whether the proposed venue is an indoor playground, family entertainment center, trampoline and active-play venue, toddler area or a compact play space within another business.
Understand the Target Audience
Identify the intended age groups and whether toddler, children, teenagers, families or mixed audiences need different activity areas.
Review Floor Area and Ceiling Height
Record the available footprint and usable clear height before considering specific equipment. Columns, beams and fixed obstructions should also be noted.
Identify Main Activity Zones
List the types of experiences the venue should explore, such as play structures, slides, ball pits, trampolines, climbing, soft play or interactive activities.
Consider Circulation and Supporting Areas
Allow for entrances, guest movement, supervision, seating, party rooms, reception and other supporting spaces rather than assigning the entire floor area to equipment.
Prepare Basic Project Information
Collect a floor plan, site photographs, venue location, intended audience, preferred activities and expected project timing in one project brief.
